The Foundation for Democratic Reforms (FDR), a registered society, is a not-for-profit organisation recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India.

It is the enormous generosity of our donors over the years that has allowed FDR to work towards making our democracy deliver better with fierce independence, integrity and objectivity. As a matter of policy, FDR does not receive any grants from any government agencies or institutions. Nor does it accept any international funding. Further, FDR does not accept contributions from donors who may pre-determine or otherwise influence its research and recommendations in any manner. Similarly, FDR does not undertake any proprietary research (research that is not publicly disseminated) and therefore, does not accept support for such projects.

FDR seeks support from a diverse group of donors in order to ensure independence and objectivity in research and advocacy. Tax exemption on 50% of the contribution amount can be availed by the donors.
