This document critiques the regressive steps taken by governments that have harmed the rural agricultural sector, especially in the context of cooperatives. It describes how political and bureaucratic control over cooperatives, particularly in the dairy sector, has led to corruption, inefficiency, and a decline in cooperative performance. The presentation highlights the success of dairy cooperatives under the Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies (MACS) Act and how government interference has reversed these gains. The document calls for respecting constitutional guarantees and giving cooperatives genuine autonomy for sustainable development.
