The publication ‘Towards Viable Universal Healthcare’ aims to synthesise Indian and global experience in health care and search for viable solutions suitable for Indian conditions at a low cost, leveraging the country’s strengths and building on current healthcare initiatives. It proposes a pragmatic roadmap for vastly improving the Indian healthcare system across the three levels of care – primary, secondary and tertiary care. 

Towards Viable Universal Healthcare is a comprehensive publication on the Indian healthcare system and the possible ways to reform to achieve maximum impact at a low-cost. It covers:

  • An overview of the current state of the healthcare system in India.
  • Detailed study of the primary care system and the proposal of a publicly funded Family Physician-led model including drugs and diagnostics. 
  • Recommendations to modify the government insurance schemes and improvement of public teaching hospitals for secondary and tertiary care.
  • Case studies of both global and domestic best practices. 
  • Detailed cost estimates for all recommendations

 

The book was officially released on 09th November 2021 at a press release in Hyderabad.
